Yes, Georgia law requires you to wear a helmet. If you’re a passenger on a motorcycle, you’re required to wear a helmet. But it goes beyond that. Georgia law says you must follow federal law. So, we are talking federal motorcycle helmet law, which is DOT-compliant helmets. So, it is not enough just to be wearing a helmet, you must wear a DOT-compliant helmet. So, you need to make sure you’re wearing one. Be mindful of those novelty ones out there that have the little DOT sticker that are not DOT-compliant helmets. That will come out if you’re in a wreck and it’s not the proper helmet. So, yes it is Georgia law that you wear a DOT-compliant helmet at all times when you’re driving a motorcycle, or you’re riding a motorcycle. So, wear a DOT-compliant helmet, be in compliance with Georgia law.
