Personal injury law gives those who have been injured the opportunity to file a civil lawsuit against the parties that are responsible for the injuries. The purpose of a personal injury case is to recover compensation for any expenses that the victim has incurred and losses that he has suffered as a result of his injuries.

There are many different types of personal injury cases. Some of the most common types involve injuries sustained in an auto accident, slip and fall, dog bite, and workplace accident.

When Should You Hire A Personal Injury Law Firm

If you believe that a person’s carelessness or recklessness led to your injuries, you should contact a personal injury attorney in the city of Cumming. People are often unsure of when to call an attorney—should you do it immediately after you have sustained injuries or wait to see if you can handle filing a personal injury claim on your own?

It’s very important that you contact an attorney as soon as possible after you have sustained the injuries. You should never speak to an insurance company or make a statement regarding what happened until you have consulted with an attorney, so the earlier you seek representation, the better.

How to Find A Personal Injury Lawyer in Cumming?

If you’ve never needed legal services before, you may be unsure of how to find a personal injury attorney to represent you after you have sustained injuries. The best way to start your search is by asking those closest to you if they have any recommendations.

Even if they have not filed a personal injury lawsuit before, they may still know someone in Cumming that they can recommend. If your friends and family members don’t have any suggestions, get in touch with your local bar association and ask them for a list of local personal injury attorneys.

How to Choose An Accident Attorney To Represent You in Georgia

Once you have made a list of the personal injury attorneys in your community, you must narrow down the list until you have found the right attorney for the job. Select a handful of attorneys and schedule a consultation with each of them. Prepare for the consultation by writing down a list of questions to ask about their experience and their firm. Some of the questions that you will need to have answered include:

  • How much do you charge?
  • Do you have experience representing clients in cases that are similar to mine?
  • How much compensation are you typically able to recover for clients who are in situations similar to mine?
  • Who will I be working with within your firm?

Know what to look for when each attorney answers these questions. It’s important that you work with an attorney who clearly answers the question instead of beating around the bush or not providing you with the information that you need.

You should only work with attorneys who have had a lot of experience representing clients in cases that are similar to yours, and have had success in these cases. The answers to these questions should help you decide who you should choose to represent you in your personal injury case.

Jeremy Hayes represented us in a real estate lawsuit. He researched the case and we went through preliminary discovery. At that point, he suggested mediation and turned a two year ordeal into only months with a satisfactory conclusion. I highly recommend Jeremy as he saved us months of litigation and unknown cost and risk. – Kim Trotter

How Much Do Personal Injury Lawyers Charge For Their Legal Services?

Personal injury victims in Cumming never have to worry about how they will find the money to pay for their attorneys. Why? The vast majority of personal injury lawyers work on a contingency fee basis. This simply means that the plaintiff does not have to pay his personal injury lawyers unless the attorneys are able to help him recover compensation through a settlement or verdict. If no compensation is awarded, the plaintiff will not owe anything to his attorneys, regardless of how much work they put into the case.

How Our Experienced Cumming, GA Personal Injury Attorneys Can Help

If you have been injured, hiring an attorney is one of the smartest decisions that you can make if you want to recover the compensation that you deserve. Why should you hire an attorney instead of attempting to recover compensation on your own? An attorney will immediately step in and begin investigating the accident that you were involved in to determine who was liable.

After your attorney has identified the responsible parties, he will communicate with the at fault parties’ insurance companies and handle the process of negotiating a settlement. This is one of the many benefits of having an attorney. Without legal representation, you run the risk of saying the wrong thing or accepting the wrong settlement when speaking to the insurance adjuster. An attorney will ensure that you are treated fairly by the insurance company and that you understand the true value of your claim. Making a mistake when dealing with the insurance company on your own could cost you the opportunity to recover compensation for your injuries, which is why it’s so important to work with an attorney.

If your case goes to trial, an attorney can also prepare the evidence and present a convincing case to the jury that shows why they should choose to award you compensation. A personal injury lawyer is a valuable asset that can assist you during every step of the legal process, so it’s strongly recommended that you do not take action against the negligent party without a lawyer.

Client Testimonials

My husband and I were involved in a motorcycle accident in May 2015. Ted handled everything from the wrongful death case to my personal injury case. I was pleased with the attention to detail and the security in knowing it was being taken care of legally. What stood out the most to me was Ted showed compassion to my family. During the most difficult time in our lives, he took time to listen and walk with us through everything. I would recommend him for any personal injury case you have.
